International Builders' Show Recap Days 1 & 2

If you follow us on our social media, you know that I recently went to the International Builders' Show in Orlando, Florida. I thought I would give you the recap of the fun we had!

My husband and I escaped our children and the snow on the ground at our house, and flew to sunny Florida! That in itself, was very nice. This is our one chance a year to get away just the two of us. We should probably plan better and go somewhere more like a vacation than a convention! Either way, time away together is fun!

So, as a total surprise, we ended up flying down there with some friends of ours who were going too! It was great to get to spend some time with these people that we don't normally get to see!

Before we left, my children had all been sick the week before with cold symptoms and high fevers. I was stressing out big time that I wouldn't be able to go because they (as children do...) were coughing and sneezing in my face all week. Ugh. Luckily, I managed not to get sick. I have trouble with my ears/sinuses when I fly on a good day, let alone when I am congested.

I have a routine to remedy this problem that my doctor suggested a long time ago, and I thought I would share it with you in case you suffer with this as well!

I always take Mucinex D.
This stuff is seriously amazing. I get a dry mouth for the rest of the day, but totally worth it, not to feel like my head is going to explode on the plane!

I happened to have a second pair, and I was able to share with my friend who was in the same boat! Neither of us had any ear problems on the flight!

Also, I love these Pomchies ALSO from Lewis N. Clark! They are a great travel accessories company!

On the shuttle from the concourse to the main building, I looked down and next to me was a woman with one on her carry-on luggage too! I snapped a quick pic to show you!

Moving on...my husband is a car nut, so we had to go investigate East Coast Defenders. That sounds like a group of warriors or something. It is a company that imports old Land Rover Defenders (have I lost you yet?) and customizes them. I like new cars. But even I thought what they were doing was pretty cool. And the gentlemen who owned it and worked there were really kind and took the time to show us around for about an hour and a half.

And they even took us for a ride in one.  Which was probably a mistake, because that is all my husband can talk about now! I got to sit in the back and hold on for dear life!

Anyway, after that we checked into our hotel and then grabbed some dinner and called it an early night so we could get up early and get to the show. And despite being in Florida, it was still pretty chilly!

Below are some of the beautiful, interesting and random things we saw at the show.

Love this tile!

Unconventional Toolbelt/vest

Bubble Wall

Pretty, right?

So excited! My favorite booth!

A fun thing to do in the booth. Although, maybe laying on a dirty floor shouldn't be my idea of fun...

Look!I am doing a handstand! Ok, I wish I could do that.

Shower head

I love the water displays!

This booth made fresh bread right there in the convention hall! Lots of booths had food. But this one made their own!

These Bosch products have Home Connect. You can connect wirelessly to them! So cool! I love technology!

 I love this Thermador range!

Love the blue light in this Thermador dishwasher!

Taking a load off. I got in almost 17,000 steps on this day!

Wrapped up the day with dinner at one of our favorites in Orlando! Raglan Road in Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney)

I thought this area in our hotel was really pretty.

Ok, I think that's enough for one post! I will post again about the remainder of the trip! The trip felt a lot like this blog post...long and overwhelming! Come back tomorrow for the next installment!

Friday Favorites! October 14th

Happy Friday!  We are linking up with  Erika ,  Narci  &  Andrea  for the weekly installment of Friday Favorites! This week my very top favorite is ELECTRICITY! Where I live in Virginia, was affected by Hurricane Matthew. By the time he reached us, he was downgraded to a post-tropical storm or something, but still there was a lot of damage in our area, and people are still dealing with it. We were very lucky. We had no major damage to our home. We did, however, lose power for 40 hours. Yes, I counted!  We were absolutely one of the lucky ones, as we had prepared in advance! And several years ago, we had a generator installed, so we had power to the essentials, like the refrigerator and some lights and a few outlets. Very helpful in keeping all of our devices charged!! My next favorite is celebrating this guy's birthday with his school friends a few days early! We had a video game bus come and park in front of our house. Several of Will's friends came and

Ladies Who Link: August Edition: Back To School Prep

Hey everybody!!  Sorry for our absence on last month's linkup! I know all you dedicated readers, ok...reader (Hi Mom!) missed us terribly! Summer has been quite a bear around here. We have been traveling a lot and just existing with 3 kids and a puppy has been a long, exhausting challenge. All that said, I do love them all dearly and do my best to cherish our summer time together and making fun memories...amidst the screaming and fighting. Look for the good, right?? Now that I've gotten that out of the way... Thanks for coming by for our link up! And a special thank you to our other hosts:  Allie over at A Gal Named Al ,  Lisa at Coast to Coast ,  Tara at Mommy In A Nutshell  and  Holly over at Pink Lady !! Back to School Prep time! Obviously, I am quite excited that it is time to get THIS party started. I haven't actually had to do much back to school prep to share with you. We did do our usual Target run to get what we needed. My 8th grader needed some

Stranded! September 14: Movies

This month's Stranded Linkup hosted by Shay at Mix & Match Mama and Erika at A Little Bit of Everything is all about Movies!! I don't know about you, but this is a tough one! I love so many movies! I think these three I could watch over and over and over. I think that I have to go with my all-time favorite movie as a child for the first pick. 1st Pick Oh my gosh, you guys! I LOVED this movie SO much when I was little! Hayley Mills is my favorite! This version was the only one in existence when I was young, so I am biased and think this one is MUCH better than the Lindsay Lohan remake. 2nd Pick I mean, who doesn't love Will Ferrell and his crazy antics?! And in a holiday movie!?! We have watched this so many times during Christmastime and every other time of the year! My kids can quote many favorite lines! 3rd Pick I think this one needs to be a newer comedy that my husband and I have watched so many times. I LOVE Paul Rud
