Friday Favorites-March 3rd

If it's Friday, you know we're happy to be linking up with ErikaNarci, and Andrea!

It has been so WARM here this week!  It feels like summer.  In some ways I am ready for it, but the teacher in my would love 1 more snow day!  We'll see what the rest of the winter hold.  Here are some of my favorites this week:

Favorite #1
As I blogged about last Friday, we went to Pittsburgh, PA for a dance competition last weekend.  This was out first time visiting this city and I must tell you that it is AWESOME!  It is honestly one of the best cities that I have visited.  It was beautiful, clean, and everyone was friendly.  Our hotel was located near Point State Park, which is very near the baseball and football stadiums.  My husband, who loves all sports, was in heaven!  The views of the rivers and city were breathtaking.  We were able to do a lot in our short time there.  I am working on a blog post on this visit and what we did with our kids.  Stay tuned!

My youngest daughter was in another play this week, a mini version of The Sound of Music.  This is one of my all time favorite movies!  My girls love it too.  I am always amazed at the confidence that my girls have on stage,  I was not brave enough at 8 years old to get up on stage and sing and dance in front of a live audience.  I cannot wait to see where all of this bravery takes this young actress in the future!

Favorite #3
On Tuesday, we celebrated the 100th day of school in my kindergarten class.  This day is so much fun and helps me to realize that we are getting closer and closer to the end of the school year.  Each child makes a cape with 100 items attached to it to wear during the day.  Below is my youngest daughter in her cape.  (We didn't do the capes when my oldest was in K.)  I love creating this memories with my class.  They are "my kids" for 180 days and I adore them!

Favorite #4
I don't get a lot of time to read, but one of my favorite authors, Kristan Higgins, has a new book out so I had to get it.  She writes contemporary romance books.  Her books are always touching with humor thrown in as well.  Her newest book is called On Second Thought.  I have not finished it yet, but so far I am really enjoying the book.  It is about 2 sisters who deal with love, loss, and life in general.  I honestly love every book that I have read by Kristan Higgans.  If you are looking for a new book to read, you should give her books a try!

Enjoy your week!

Spring Break!

My family is off on a Spring Break trip next week! We are very excited. We are going on a Disney Cruise for the first half of the week. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about it! For several years, my family and I used to cruise on Royal Caribbean every Spring Break with my brother and my niece and sometimes my nephew, and another family. We haven't been on a cruise in a while and we missed it! So, we thought we would give a Disney Cruise a whirl!

The last half of the week, we are spending a couple of days drinking Butterbeer at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal! We went to Universal a few years ago and had such a good time, we had to make time for it again. I look forward to sharing the highlights with you when we return!

Girl Scout Cookies!!!!!!!

Do I really need to say more? I love them. This is the best time of year, other than November at Trader Joe's for the shortbread Star Cookies. Our family's favorites are Thin Mints and Samoas. We like Tagalongs too, but not as much as the other two. I also hear this year's S'mores flavor is good too. I haven't tried the yet, have you??

My kids use these every day in their snacks. We love them. They are easy to clean (top rack dishwasher safe!!), easy for little hands to open, and hold perfect portion sizes. I like that they are stainless steel. If you are looking for reusable containers for snacks, but anything small, I can't say enough positive things about these!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Happy Friday!

Friday Favorites! October 14th

Happy Friday!  We are linking up with  Erika ,  Narci  &  Andrea  for the weekly installment of Friday Favorites! This week my very top favorite is ELECTRICITY! Where I live in Virginia, was affected by Hurricane Matthew. By the time he reached us, he was downgraded to a post-tropical storm or something, but still there was a lot of damage in our area, and people are still dealing with it. We were very lucky. We had no major damage to our home. We did, however, lose power for 40 hours. Yes, I counted!  We were absolutely one of the lucky ones, as we had prepared in advance! And several years ago, we had a generator installed, so we had power to the essentials, like the refrigerator and some lights and a few outlets. Very helpful in keeping all of our devices charged!! My next favorite is celebrating this guy's birthday with his school friends a few days early! We had a video game bus come and park in front of our house. Several of Will's friends came and

Stranded! September 14: Movies

This month's Stranded Linkup hosted by Shay at Mix & Match Mama and Erika at A Little Bit of Everything is all about Movies!! I don't know about you, but this is a tough one! I love so many movies! I think these three I could watch over and over and over. I think that I have to go with my all-time favorite movie as a child for the first pick. 1st Pick Oh my gosh, you guys! I LOVED this movie SO much when I was little! Hayley Mills is my favorite! This version was the only one in existence when I was young, so I am biased and think this one is MUCH better than the Lindsay Lohan remake. 2nd Pick I mean, who doesn't love Will Ferrell and his crazy antics?! And in a holiday movie!?! We have watched this so many times during Christmastime and every other time of the year! My kids can quote many favorite lines! 3rd Pick I think this one needs to be a newer comedy that my husband and I have watched so many times. I LOVE Paul Rud
